My message today is pretty simple. Love. The events on Capital Hill yesterday, and then the onslaught of negative speak from both sides on social media illustrated plainly how much pain our country is in. The anger projected out from us is causing great harm to our culture. Plainly, if we don’t begin to show more love and forgiveness, compassion and kindness to each other our society is headed a destination that could destroy us.

Blaming the other side for our feelings creates a victim and attacker mentality. By doing this, we give up our individual power to make a difference, to change the world we live in, and more importantly to heal ourselves and others.

Before you make your next post on Facebook, before you get upset and curse at the television, and certainly before you leave your home today, ask yourself, “Am I doing this from a place of ego, fear, and anger or love? If the answer is anything but love, you need to pause and go gently.

It isn’t difficult to be triggered by outside events to release the hurt and pain you feel inside. A mirror is helpful to see who the true antagonist is in your story of what the other is doing to you.

While it may be even scarier to look within to confront the real issues at hand, when you do so you are able to reach a place of peaceful resolution of past traumas. You may find forgiveness for yourself as well as those you perceive are doing you harm. Extending love and kindness to someone even in the face of a perceived animosity may actually reverse their hurt and help them heal.

Everything we do, say, feel, think, act upon…is a choice.

Today, choose to be gentle to yourself and others.

Getting my energy from nature today instead of the news.
